Purchase Of The Week (Vintage Cocktail Glasses From Various Thrift Stores)

I admit that I own some of the cocktail glasses that places like Crate & Barrel sell. They’re made of cheap glass are usually over sized and are made for people who like to make bad Cosmopolitans and use Margarita mix. They are however a good deal and if you double of triple recipes the champagne coupe style glasses that have become the standard at premium bars like PDT and Clover Club just won’t due. However, when I’m making drinks for guests or just really want to do shit right I defer to well made, traditional Collins, Tiki, Cocktail, Old Fashioned, Cordial etc glasses. These glasses can easily be found on Ebay or different bar supply websites but in my opinion there’s nothing like visiting a thrift or antique store and finding a beautiful or cheap glass with an unknown history behind it. I’m not going to give up my spots as I fear the competition but over the past one or two months I’ve been able to find the three vintage glasses above, all unique I might add, with the Trader Vic’s coconut glass costing the most at a mere $7. You can easily get great cocktail glasses for amazing prices if you just take the time to look. I implore you to got out and get your own simply because serving your guest a well made Martini made from premium ingredients and bitters in an over sized v shaped glass from Pier 1 is just really fucking lame.
