I’ve been working in the Financial District for about four and a half years and in January my department will be moving to East 59th street. I am both excited and sad for the move and some of the memories that will be left in my current office space. I’ll be posting a special “simply the best” post during the week of the move to highlight the top five things I will most the most about working a block away from Wall Street.
One item that will certainly be on the list is the tremendous pizza from Adrienne’s Pizza Bar. If you expect to go to Adrienne’s and experience traditional Neapolitan pizza you’ll be shit out of luck. If you bite into their pie with no specific expectations, I’m pretty sure you’ll be floored by the crispy edges, the tangy tomato sauce and the scant layering of bubbly, fresh mozzarella. Adrienne’s makes square slices almost the exact same way that my great-aunt Annie (RIP), of Sicilian heritage, used to.
Before I decided to get creative when my partner and I would buy lunch for our staff during monthly meetings, Adrienne’s was our standby. Even now if we don’t feel like picking up bento boxes, tortas, banh mi or sandwiches from Alidoro we know we can just order pizza with no complaints or disappointment. I can’t recommend other items simply because I’ve never had anything else but I assure you if you give the pizza a try, you will not be disappointed (no slices, only whole pies)
