First of all let me just say that Raekwon’s recently released “Cuban Linx Part 2″ is an excellent album and is everything that Jay-Z’s new offering isn’t. With that said, I don’t think that any of the music that these rappers make now will ever come close to their original sound and first couple of albums. I feel that way about Wu, Mobb Deep, Nas, Jay Z and a lot of rappers that I loved during my mid to late teens and still do.
I like this rather obscure joint that was on the High School High Soundtrack (what a God awful movie) because it highlights some of the Wu members that never got the same amount of shine as Meth, Ghost, Rae, GZA, ODB or RZA namely Inspector Deck and U-God who both body this beat. But the real show stealer is “Street Thug” who has the joint’s final verse and most vicious assault
“PLO hits the hardest, regardless/felony offenders catching murder one charges/open cases/got me smoked in staircases/The dark crusader/jackin cats in elevators”
Trust me he bodies the beat. It’s ashame we weren’t able to hear more from this very talented dude.
