In the notes app on my Iphone I keep a bunch of lists, most of which pertain to this blog. I have one list that has all of about the 300 restaurants and eateries (some are trucks and carts) that I plan to eat at and review for the blog, another one details all of the “Simply The Best” posts I plan to do in the future (there are lots which range from favorite horror movies to favorite wine grapes), one details the throwback videos I plan to post on Fridays and one is a list of the many cocktail bitters, syrups and sodas that I plan on buying twice a month when those good old direct deposits hit my bank account. On a side note, as of right now I love my job.
On the cocktail items list, sodas from Glaco’s in Los Angeles, the largest soda store in the country will come up in the next month or so. I plan on buying a case of 24 rare sodas (each one different) to use half of each bottle in cocktail and enjoy the other half chilled. Some of the bottles that I plan to order include Blenheim’s hot hot ginger ale, Double Cola, Faygo original rock and rye cola, Plantation Style mint julep soda and Mr Q. cucumber soda. Each bottle I purchase in the case will be different and I’m very excited to feature all of them here.
I saw this video a few weeks back with John Nese, the owner of Glaco’s, thoroughly explaining the soda business and going through some of his favorite bottles. I am so happy that he mentioned my much beloved Fentiman’s curiosity cola as one of the best colas in the world. Check this video out as the passion that this man has for soda is truly inspiring and you can bet your ass that if I lived out in Los Angeles I would have a soda of the week column until I tried everything he stocks in his supermarket size store. Can someone in New York get on this, or do I have to?
