(This will be a weekly feature I’ll be doing to help step everyone’s Henny and coke, 7 and 7 and vodka and Sprite games up. Each week I’ll feature a different unique spirit and an easy cocktail to make with it, either my invention, a classic or newbie via a famed mixologist.)
Tequila enters into the fusion ring with this delightful liquor from Gran Centenario. Rosangel tequila is aged in port barrels and then infused with the hibiscus flowers that are often used in Mexican cuisine. This cocktail is sophisticated yet refreshing and comes to us via Julie Reiner one of the owners of the terrific Flatiron Lounge.
BTW trust me guys this is easy to make, women will love it and it looks pretty impressive in the glass with the foamy head the egg white gives it (pause).
The Rosangel Ruby Fizz
2 oz Rosangel tequila
1/2 oz agave syrup
1/2 oz ruby port
1 bar spoon good quality grenadine
3/4 oz fresh lemon juice
1 egg white
club soda
Dry shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker (except for the club soda.) This will emulsify the egg. Add ice and hard shake for at least 15 seconds. Strain into a highball or tall glass and top off with club soda.
